At levelQuantum we are pioneering a new category of cryptographic infrastructure in which each endpoint generates the same secret key locally from quantum entanglement – with no key ever transmitted across the network. It is a step beyond classical, post-quantum, and first-generation QKD approaches, and it is built to protect Europe’s and NATO’s most critical communications against today’s and tomorrow’s threats.
We are a young, ambitious Italian deep-tech company headquartered in Milan. We are alumni of NATO DIANA, ESA BIC, and members of the Transatlantic Quantum Community.
With two flagship multi-year R&D programmes launching in 2026 we are scaling our engineering team.
We are opening five engineering roles across our Milan and Warsaw sites:
Quantum Engineers: Work hands-on with our entanglement source, single-photon detectors, and quantum protocol implementations. Contribute to Bell-test validation, finite-key analysis, protocol optimization, and the experimental development of device-independent QKD. Background in quantum optics, quantum information, or experimental photonics expected.
Telecommunications Engineer: – Integrate our quantum security layer into commercial fiber infrastructure and data-center interconnects. Work directly with telecom engineering teams on carrier-grade deployment, classical/quantum channel multiplexing, and network-side integration with SD-WAN, VPN, and PKI stacks.
FPGA Engineer: Design, implement, and optimize the FPGA logic that drives our quantum hardware: time-tagging, coincidence detection, real-time signal processing, and the high-speed digital backbone of our synchronization and key-generation pipeline. Experience with Xilinx/AMD or Intel/Altera toolchains and high-speed serial interfaces is a strong plus.
Low-Noise RF Electronics Engineer: Design and build the analog and mixed-signal electronics that sit closest to our quantum hardware: detector front-ends, control circuits, picosecond-class timing electronics, and shielded boards engineered for the lowest possible noise floor.
Synchronisation Engineer: Own sub-nanosecond timing distribution and clock recovery across long fiber links. Develop the synchronization and stabilization architecture that enables stable operation up to hundreds of km.
Why join levelQuantum
You will work on frontier science with real industrial impact – not a research demo, but a deployable infrastructure product going to live customer networks. You will join a world-class team led by Prof. Magdalena Stobińska-Moretto.
We offer the chance to be among the first engineers in a fast-growing, fully-funded European deep-tech company; meaningful ownership of your subsystem from architecture to deployment; and a multi-site collaborative environment across Milan and Warsaw.
How to apply
